Posted about 1 month ago I pulled this from another forum regarding "Stupid Sales People": The person say's "wasnt going to be pushed into something i didnt want or need". Read below and give us your thoughts on what could have been done differently. Do you think that talking to the manager would benefit the sales person? Don't you think the sales person should have LISTENED!
"Re: GRRR, STUPID Dell sales representatives! Learn how to sell! <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> I had been getting different pricing from a few different sales reps for the past two weeks. I was told their sales reps are divided into groups of 12 and each has a manager. Each of these managers puts together their own 'Manager Special' which are offered by their 12 people. So I'm thinking this is why I get some new "deal" everytime I call. You're getting a different 'group' every time.
Anyway, day or so later I got two follow up calls from sales people who seemed to be trying to "close the deal"... they seemed to have more authority and could be more flexible with there pricing. She kept putting me on hold and kept playing with deals and numbers, and acted like she was giving it to me for free, but it was the best price i had gotten, so I ordered the e1705 from her. I decided the next day i didnt want the 17" screen and cancelled. She called me back wondering why i cancelled, but couldnt offer me a good enough price on the smaller size(e1505). Even though i downgraded a few options, she gave me the same price as my original order, and kept trying to get me to reorder the SAME thing(17")!! so i said "thanks anyway, but i guess i'll just have to wait". I had calculated what i thought the difference in price should be and wasnt going to be pushed into something i didnt want or need. THEN she started saying she would work with me to get a better price on the system i wanted. I didnt have enough time to go another round with her, so i said i'd call her back. I havent called back, since i decided to order the D820, which falls under the Small Business department. So, unless you're in a rush, you might want to wait a bit. I dont know what configuration you're looking at , but it is possible that is the best deal they can do on that particular one. Maybe wait for them to follow up with you. You might get a rep that has more authority." |

| Posted 13 days ago Here's a sitiation were you have to pin down the customer on the first call. This customer was over educated and had too much info to wrap their brain around. In defense of the customer, however, the sales team could have regained control. I think if they could give the customer a great price on the 17", they could have given them a better one on the 15" with fewer options. Basically, they could have sold her what she wanted to buy by finding out what she wanted to buy in the beginning. |
