See what outplacement service they provide you. But dont wait for them.

Open a linkedin.com account.

Make a list of all your accomplishments.

Get involved in networking. online and in local chapters whom have get togethers.

Look up 40plus (networking group). They have chapters throughout the country. You will find that many many people are experiencing the loss of a job right now. Commoradery will give you hope and strength that you are not the only one.

I have been out of work. There are engineers, IT people, Sales, supply chain people. Even medical people out of work. Connect because they may hear of jobs that you would qualify for and they are not competing with you because they are from a different field.

If it helps, I did a forum on interview questions.

Good luck

also let everyone know that you're "looking", there is nothing embarrasing about this

Contact former Customer's you've helped, they may in turn help you or provide job leads and references.

possibility exists that your knowledge of dell & computer Hrdwr could help biz & consumers in the area as a consultant.

Don't wait till they close shop, start now.

In the meantime, unemployment runs forever now.

Your Job hunt success can depend largely on your Attitude.  Have a bad one and blame everyone else for your situation and you're likely to have poor results.  Make the best of it and focus on what you can do to improve your situation and you will see better results and have a better outlook.  "Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out."

Here's a couple of places that I know are hiring.  I don't know where any of you are located but they do have offices in various States.

Do all of the above and make sure you resume is PERFECT.  Treat you job hunting like a job.  8 to 5 every day.  No sleeping in so you don't get into a sad routine.  Hey, every day counts and the early bird catches the worm.  Network with, friends, old employers, old colleagues, local groups that you may know of of interest to you, friends, family.  Join Toastmasters. Network with everyone, tell them you are looking for new work opportunities and if they could reference you someone or a company.  Alot of jobs are found that are not advertised, so you have to be brave and just come out and ask.

Check out Workpolis, Monster, look for local sites as well.  In Canada we have a site where we can look up industry companies, check out to see if the U.S. has a U.S. Company Profile site.

Most important, NEVER GIVE UP, you say to yourself (this is hoeky but it works) I am as more successful today than I ever dreamt.  Stay focused and always, always, keep you ears and eyes wide open.  You never know who is standing in front of you in a line up. Good Luck

James, if this girl is over 40, I want what she's taking!

your in telemarketing, you have 4 years of experience... is telemarketing what you really want to be doing or just "getting a job"? maybe you have other talents you want to explore like starting a business or something... try to think about things you can do where the income is directly related to your efforts and not that of the corporation... don't be a puppet in your own life letting someone else pull the strings, be your own person and pull your own strings.

hell, you can sell door to door vacuum cleaners right now and still make 1500 a week or more... i sold windshields one time (18 years ago) and made about $1200 a day! everybody crying about not having a job, hell, their are lot's of jobs out there but they are comission only. if you have confidance in your skills, you can clean up... if you don't have confidance, than you can wait for the bread line jobs...

seems like with ue, this is a great time to kick back and really take a look at what the company is offering for job retraining or placement...and a great time to reflect on and design the lifestyle you want  and the vehicle to fund it.
