What to do when your Heads NOT in the Game.

Posted 4 months ago Unfortunately my heads not in the game today. So I was hoping to get a few suggestions on how to get back on track after you have completely lost focus at work. The traffic is slow for sales opportunities, so you don't have that to bring you back. I was highley profitable and productive this morning but after lunch hit, I feel my energy has been zapped. Previously I was in factory direct sales - traveling, my day was always different, and on rare occasions you just don't feel like going out and selling, but I knew how to recover from those half days and end up making sales before I called it a day. Now I am an Inside Sales Account Rep. and I haven't figured out how to kick myself in the ass when things are slow. I am more inclined to manage my Facebook and Twitter accounts than to make a sales call when I am not even close to 100% carring. The worst thought that enters my mind is "I will do better tomorrow" - but i guarantee that I will be pissed off at myself for about a half hour when I get home tonight because I KNOW I left money on the table. So let it rip - I know I am not the only one - with some good responses I will put an article together on my site to help more people. | Posted 4 months ago sounds like your job is suffocating the life out of you and you are struggling for air... Every day being inprisoned in your "place", no hope for any real opportunity or real personal advancement, just another day of your life being completely wasted away... another day digested with no nutritional value added to the system... I'd suggest you quit your job this afternoon and go outside and get a breath of fresh air and come back to life. (that's what i would do) but if that's too drastic, take a week or two off and go and do something... take a week and look for a better job. you need out side sales for sure. and selling something people are buying. find that job. |

| Posted 4 months ago Goldsmith IU cannot believe it I actually pretty much agree with you. I would not make such a drastic move as to quit today however taking a few days off to refocus or decide what avenue to choose.. The time is now to grow and learn as much as possible. Take action and responsibility for your actions

| Posted 4 months ago what % of the work force do you suspect feel their lives are wasting away and they feel enslaved to their jobs by the the debt they owe... no hope of recovering/ how many people i wonder feel this yet never do anything about it? I wouldn't have taken his job but if i did, i'd have quit after day one or the first moment i realized it was a trap. yeah, i agree i can hardly agree that you practically agree lol. see, we are making great strides:) |

| Posted 4 months ago Goldsmith today I saw a figure of 54% feel they are being taken advantage of and whenh the economy starts to head in a different direction will look for a different job. Amazingly between the ages of 21-29 that percentage is 74%. This informs us that quite a few think they are at a dead end in their career. Yeah might have to scale it back a bit small steps to recovery! LOL The time is now to grow and learn as much as possible. Take action and responsibility for your actions

Trust me, The traffic was fine a week ago and it's not that I am not selling, but everything else sounds pretty dead on, I am not imprisoned by anything I do especially not a job, but I do have a family and will be more tactful than jumping ship like I did when I was a little bit younger. I have been looking - it's getting the time off to interview that is tricky - plus I just burned up the rest of my vacation for a long 4th of July weekend - getting time off is generally not the problem but if I start taking a lot of time off it could raise some issues. I APPRECIATE EVERYONES CONCERN - BUT - THE POINT OF THE POST WAS FOR SUGGESTIONS FOR GETTING BACK ON TRACK ONCE YOU HAVE LOST YOUR FOCUS AT WORK, SO YOU DON'T LEAVE SALES OUT THERE AND FINISH OUT YOUR DAY STRONG. (Pretend I love my job if that helps.) www.effectiveskillsnow.com For all sales professionals to increase commissions and consumers that would like a few tips on using sales techniques to save them time or money.
