| Posted 4 months ago "The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more" This is from a letter from John Adams to Abigail Adams. The 2nd is mentioned as the resoution that became the Decaration of Independence was drafted that day and signed on 7/4/1776. The 4th is one of my favorite holidays. What is it without Q and watermelon and fireworks?? Only the intro to my favorite holiday July 5th. Everyone celebrate!! Rosemary friend me on Facebook or LinkedIn and follow me on Twitter |

| Posted 4 months ago Ron there was a smaller crowd at the party also. The past three years it was wall to wall people walking shoulder to shoulder. I know in our beighborhood there were 6 different parties going at the same time with people mingling between them. Some really drunk people wearing seatbelts walking! | Posted 4 months ago Krunal Thank you for your reflection on our country in wishing the best for the 4th. History: 7/2/1776 the declaration of independence was first signed by John adams. (the others signed over the next couple months) 7/4/1776 was the first day that it was read to the public. The people were excited and fired their muskets and shouted for joy. This established the 4th of July as the day recognized for celebrations. (I heard this on the radio during last week) |

Ya..eNext month 15th August will be independent day for india. There will be lots of fireworks... It is celebrated with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs in the state capitals. The Prime Minister's speech at the Red Fort in Delhi is the major highlight. In almost all the schools and colleges around the country, no academic work in done on this day, but all the students and staff members are present on this day and there is a sort of gathering of the entire school/college within their respective premises and the flag hoisting ceremony takes place,(usually in the presence of the principal)and singing of the National Anthem. After this there are various cultural activities held in the school / college and the celebration continues till late evening.
