Posted 4 months ago IOne of my jobs (besides arguing with rich :) ) is designing high end jewelry... we make the finest money can buy. The course we have been taking and what has become our main focus is finely defined niche markets. We do a fair amount of research during the design process including getting ideas from the people who are actually in the niche we are targeting... One of my projects for this year is to have 2 designs ready to market my jan 10. and I am considering two ideas that have been on the back burner for years... the salesman ring and, a "entreprenuer" ring So, I'm asking the sales pro's here on sales hq and perhaps get a few ideas.. . THe design should embody everything the salesman or entreprenuer values the most... Something above and beyond the ordinary "class ring". Something that can be held up as the highest in standards, and looks...Something that you the salesman or entrorenuer would be proud to own and wear. Would it be an emblem or symbol that can be recognized by others or, something more subdued.. Don't consider "price" in the design.... So, what embodies these individuals..... what are the 3 or 4 aspects that should be represented in the ring... If you had to wrap up your lifes work and express it in a ring... sum it all up, , what would you want it to say? I'd really appreciate your thoughts. |

| Posted 4 months ago Thanks Harriet I think the shaking hands have been done but definately one of the design elements should show the partnership aspect. very good, thank you:)
Rich You have indeed enlightened me....(or fired me up. :)) Something global is a good idea and should definately be used as a design element. Friendships-relationsips might be covered in Harriet's "partnership" aspect... yes? no? What about struggle or dedication, character, elegance, the learning curve, hard knocks, preseverence, ... Is their something that you can think of that would represent them or something they all have in common?

| Posted 4 months ago Goldsmith. there is a universal sign where two people shaking hands on a globe symbol of working together to accomplish a common goal. That might be tough to get on a ring. What is the symbol for hard work and what is the symbol for sharing? Combine the two. The time is now to grow and learn as much as possible. Take action and responsibility for your actions

| Posted 4 months ago Links might be viable. The sales man is a very important link between customer and product/service company, for an entrepreneur I have no idea. The good question is...What are the characteristics of an entrepreneur?

You said one time there was no way we would ever agree on everything and here you are, incorrect once again lol, I agree 100% with this above statement:) ... add thick skinned... audacious, focused...(i'm sure i'm missing some more) And a good Question Jack... Seems they have a lot in common but the underlying difference is the main job for the entreprenuer, their rreason for "being" is to create... Almost more in line with the traits or the artist... a blank canvas and than, something... a lump of clay into "something" Struggle, the steep elevation of our learning curves, trials and tribulations are similiar as a sales person... perseverence is evident in both schools... Communications skills might be more weighted towards the salesman side... One thing for sure, they are both counter dependant on each other... one with out the other?? can't happen. you can't make a fluffernutter without the 2 key ingredients. So, I think entreprenuers are visionaries and creaters as to the salesman's bridge building abilities...? I don't know? I like the link idea too... might be a good way to symbolize the partnership aspect as well...? |

| Posted 4 months ago LMAO guess again, you added to the list. You are alright in my book. It is cool that we have the ability to say what is on our minds and debate and wage war and still communicate. It makes it easier when people show the ground they stand on and I can respect that. The time is now to grow and learn as much as possible. Take action and responsibility for your actions

| Posted 4 months ago Well that is Gold! Entrepreneur as artist. Right on target. The business artist. Creator of ideas. That said... the entrepreneur's ring is a blank slate. they desing you make it custom all the way. Anything less lacks respect, no? Thanks rich. your not 1/2 bad yourself :) It's obvious we have both been around the block a few times... I sensed that about you right away. I'm sure betwen the two of us we have heard enough bs and known enough bs people to sink a battleship. The best way i know to cut through the bs is to be straight up and honest. (being right most of the time doesn't hurt either:) My customers are treated to the same respect and courtesy of honesty and straight forwardness. It's all human intercourse... sales, buying, living, socializing, romance...but before you can relate well with others, it's pretty important you know where you stand as an individual... if you have a clear sense of that, you got it made. Jack...I see what you mean about the blank slate but the successful entreprenuer (the ones who will be able to afford a ring) will have "some" accomplishment under their belt. the blank slate for the entreprenuer is troubling because it's blank... until he visualises an idea, and can sketch out the basics, he is basically in "entreprenuer hell".. like the artist with the blank canvas without an idea or inspiration. More important than the paint brush and paints.. but for sure, the ring should be customizable... allowing each customer to add an element that carries a personal meaning for them. And, it should also be something that is functional... it has to do more than just look good... it has to have a purpose. Muhammad.. I agree, the ring needs to drive the point home. All 3 are vital... success, image and dreams.

| Posted 4 months ago I'm a girl, so I have to say something that says DAMN!!! Like a big phat rock of some sort., elegant, simple. Maybe white and yellow gold together. My old boss wears these types of rings...I thought it definently made her stand out and gave her some Authoritar... anyways ...then people can wear it on thier contract pen passing hand to seal in the deal. What's funny though...is I went back to her millions of dollars house...she's showing me around and it's beautiful. She takes me to her bathroom and I see this big bowl...looks like from an Old Bath and Body Works Bowl from a gift basket and there were jewls just tossed all in there. Gave me a whole new perception. Some day. |

You bet your input is vital and I can't agree more... definately the two tone white and yellow gold to represent the partnership aspect. As for the stones, usually big and phat don't corrolate to simple and elegant but to get the same result, a smaller "perfect gem stone" does quite well. I am glad you posted as you are the only one to mention what i think to be the "functional" aspect of the ring and that is the customer effect... passing the pen or, at the exact right moment in the sales meeting, flash the stone into the customers eyes. I have always found a really nice ring is very handy to have when selling not to mention the number of people who will stop me on the street and ask me or make a comment. but, customers inparticular seem to respond a lot better to the salesman if they have a nice ring... and i'm not talking about even one of our rings but even their $99.00 gold wedding band... in sales, it should always be clean and not scratched or tarnished or otherwise beaten to death. and it should fit properly... it shouldn't look like a rubber band wrapped around a vianna sauasage or, a band aid used to "sung it up". I can't tell you how many times I've had this conversation with our of my stone dealers... his ring looks like some crappy $99 thing that is to paper thin from wearing it for 35 years it's ready to fall off his finger, he's never cleaned it or had it resurfaced or polished... it's an eye sore... and this guy is selling big dollar merchandise to jewelers! Maybe he is taking the contrarian position?
Buy i get you... passing the pen and signing the contract... you have great insight:) Sounds like yourold boss is probably running out of ways to spend her money if she already has a jar full of gems:) Please mention i'd be more than happy to supply her with a new bigger jar:)

| Posted 4 months ago Now I understand why I must pay that price for that product! LOL A gold ring with a black gemstone looks great on a males finger. Personally birthstone may be more subtle. I like the two tone or even three I love the rose gold. I really like the three braided white ,yellow, and rose gold. I never wear jewelery at work with the exception of my diamond earring. I wear jewelry when we go out. The time is now to grow and learn as much as possible. Take action and responsibility for your actions

There is not a lot of 3 tone 18k jewelry readilly available in the market, a lot of people think of black hills gold when thinking tricolor, but really high end 3 tone pieces when nicely done are... well, really nice. is their a reason you don't wear jewelry at work? A lot of guys who work with tools etc don't like to wear them but do you have a sales reason? |
