Are you talking about linkedin?

If so, I never accepted their request back. By then, I am already connect to them.

Does that make sense?

I am not sure...but it seems like once a "friend" connection is made its finalized....probably a question for kit/editor......

I think only one of you need to accept.

How come it shows when others accept a freind request that the new friend also accepts? When another sends me a friend request and they are already a friend on my end I cannot accept from them?

When you sent me a request to be your friend did you not automatically accept being my friend also??? by virtue of asking me to be your  friend were you not saying that you wanted to be my friiend also?????

sounds logical Harriet however when I send a friend request does the person accepting also receive 5 points?

On my computer  I see where someone accepts and right above it is that person being accepted by  the sender. That made me think . I do not see that I have accepted the other as a friend. hence the question.

This is just a question . I take it no one knows the real answer? Is it auto accept both ways or only one way? I asked Kit this question prior to her leaving.  I thought that both parties should receive points. It used to be one sided with points

I know what you mean. I sent an invite to a person and that same person sent me one as well. ( I dont know if it was on the same day or not) When I checked my email again, that person had accepted my invitation a the accept or decline buttons were gone on the other persons invite. so I think the system only allows one person to accept.  Then they are linked so there is no reason for the second persons acceptance.

I think both get the 5 points.  When I look at my reputation board, I have the right amount of points for the # of friends.

Thanks T.  I have received so manhy where I cannot accept their request due to the accept or decline button gone. I wondered why I receive that email if I cannot accept.

Since we are on the subject.  Is there a way to do group invites.  For example,  if I wanted to become friends with people who lived in a certain area, or worked in certain field?

Rich,  I have 42 friends and 210 friends points.  I know that I have not invited that many people to be my friends so more thatn half of those came from people inviting me.  Also you cannot send emails to people unless they are your friend so to send and receive emails from others you both would have to have accepted the friendship.

Why can you not send emails? Otherwise a friend request would not be submited through email.

  Good question T

Rich,  My mistake!!!!!!!! It seems you can send someone a message if they are not your friend but  you can't tag them.  ( just tried)  My message was sent but it won't let me tag unless they are my friend.  Harriet

on the topic of friend requests, i thunk it would be nice if there was a way to send multiple friend requests simultaneously [such as fellow group members] without back-tabbing and reloading and such.

also, the ability to edit text in the friend request message box is not user-friendly ... add one letter and the whole message disappears.

LMAO I finally figured it out. Sometimes we like to think things are tougher than they really are. The reason it does not show the second person accepting get this it is huge and  it is large. Recent activity shows friend activity and not your own activity! That is why I see Jack accepted Joes frind request and Joe accepted Jacks friend request. I cannot see me accepting Joes friend reauest however I see Joe accepting my request. So simple but over looked!!

Usually there is a reason for most things..

I think its cool that each person gets 5 points, BUT I invited people around the Wichita area to be my friends just because they live close, not that I ever seem them or anything, just the idea they live close I guess.  BUT I enjoy making and meeting new frends from whereever.  all over the states, the UK, India,  That is way cool..  I can learn so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It's not about' points for me.
