Posted 6 months ago I have recently been asked to join an MLM their concept sounds good, However I have reservations and have yet to do the research needed to make an informed decision. My feeling is, more people fail than succeed in MLM so I put this post up to throw out a line and see what people here have to say or any insights they can offer. |

| Posted 6 months ago I think you will only ever be as successful as the work you put into the business. Google the book "Why We Want You to Be Rich" by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki it lays out the up side of MLM which is now more often referred to as network marketing. They think it is about the only way to relatively quickly grow a fortune. In my personal experience there are 2 kinds of MLMs with the first dedicated to building a downline which is the only way to make any money. Success in this version is based on how many people you know and can talk into joining you because the purchase of a juice or liquid vitamin or energy drink is a choice not a 'need'. The second provides a viable product that people buy anyway. Avon and MaryKay come to mind with makeup. You can just sell the makeup (I do not want to hear that makeup is a choice) and do not need to build the downline so you can have success individually. Is it a product most people buy and use every day? Is it a business product? These are indicators of opportunities that you can succeed with despite people's ever changing taste or the economy. So, I would judge the product. Can you sell the product? Are you ready to dedicate to the pressure and self-motivation of a home business? If you can say yes to these questions you can probably be successful with network marketing. |

| Posted 4 months ago MLM has garnered an unfortunate reputation as a scam due to media accounts of the companies who abused the concept and milked their downline for fast profit. In reality, most sales organizations are [in one way or another] MLM's. A field rep whose sales generate income and bonuses for his area manager, district manager and VP of sales is at the bottom of the ladder in that organization. It's all in how you look at the opportunity and how you sell the product. Look at the benefits of the product and the potential for income based on your ability to sell it. the 'downline' income from your recruits should just be gravy. |
