Sales isn't the easiest job in the world but I find if you make it fun, you are more successful. Who wants to stay inside and wait for the phone to ring?  Or send out emails that are not going to be read?  Networking has been an instrumental part of a salespersons lead generation - plus, you get to meet and talk to many interesting people.  First thing in the morning, I like to meditate and visualize my day ahead.  This gets my head in the game and prompts me to get busy doing what I do so that I can live the movie I just saw in my head.

I sit down with a cup  of java and focus on morning joe and contemplate what the day will bring. I put on paper what I want to accomplish that day. An example tomorrow I must  ready two bids and send them off  via email. I wil decide which  one I will do first and how I wil word them. Sometimes I word them in contract form and other times disguised as a friendly email.

I then  will try to set an order to the items I want accomplished and time frame. I post them in my on line journal and also on paper to take with me. I focus on my monthly goals to see exactly how close or how far ahead of them I  find myself and what I must do to accomplish my goal.

My day is pretty routine. The difference is my location

With the economy not doing well, and recently being downsized from KCI, the beauty of waking up to two happy children,Pearl-Jean, 3 1/2 years, and Keira-Ann, 8 1/2 months is what wakes me up. The coffee is then brewed and a successful day begins!

I am determined to learn one new thing every day.

Sometimes this can be complicated, many times simple. Making a commitment to improve, to learn something new, makes even the breakfast routine invigorating.

For instance: What am I doing right now, that I could be doing better tomorrow? For instance, on my Blackberry, I took the time to study the manual - which I rarely do - and found that typing 'B' while on a webpage will take me to the bottom of the page. Typing 'T' will take me to the top of the page. Very handy when reading forwarded jokes!

Then I make a note to reinforce that new learning, so it will become part of my bag of tricks.

I'm already looking forward to learning more about SalesHQ tomorrow!

Simple.

I flew through the am. From the time I got up, gulped my cup of coffee down, got ready and got into the car to get to the office. Then I jammed out on the drive. Once in the parking lot, I'd leave my attitude in the car, put on a smile and welcomed the day ahead of me.

This is all wonderful motivation to me.  Some I will try myself!  One comment mentioned the economy and it is trully encouraging to know that we can all wake up and get our motors running still.  Send this to others you know...I'll start another topic on Coffee and Car Keys next week or maybe sooner!

I feed my cats before sitting down for a half cup of coffee. Then my cats bug me for breakfast dessert snacks. Next I drink my Instant Breakfast and take my vitamins. Then my cats bug me to cook seared chicken livers for my dogs, so they can in turn get their raw chicken livers. Then I have my bowl of cereal with fresh berries... while at my desk checking e-mails. Then my dogs want their dessert snacks. Finally the pets take their morning naps and I dress for work. Doesn't that seem like a lively start to another winning sales day?

I've learned it's best to bathe, lay out my wardrobe and write my To Do list the evening prior. I live in CA and you never know if an Earthquake will interrupt your morning routine.

I've always romantacized about the notion of waking up, and having a Kung Fu master holding a board by the side of my bed.  Who wouldn't want to achieve and get the day rolling if the first thing you do would be break a board!

Humor gets me going! I make sure that i am laughing by the time I'm out of the shower every morning. ...

What happened to your Saturday baths?I would have thought living in Cali that you would conserve water.

I thought if I spoke of the bathroom duties that might be  too personal and I am not sure I want some of you to know that much about moi! <LOL

I am sorry , remember I am a  guy and hints are not real good . I need to be asked up front what it is you are asking. I have no idea what you mean . As a good sales professional how  do you mean?

If I awakened to a Kung Fu Master with a board at bedside... I'd wonder if I was having a nightmare. I'd grab my Highlander 'The Clan McLeod' (special edition) sword from under my bed and threaten to hit that intruder up side the head if he didn't bring me my coffee. I like humor first thing, too, and the Master better be laughin' all the way to the coffee maker. (I'm kidding... but are you serious?)

The concept sounds great! perhaps in practice it would be difficult, but energizing!  Music rocks my soul in the morning.  I actually do have a very energetic song called "Bombs Over Baghdad" by Outkast that Plays every morning as my alarm which really makes me want to sprint from my bed and enjoy my day.  Sleeping about 4 hours a night causes me to pause an extra minute or so before getting up, but all and all good music, and general humor get me through the day and I will probably be one of the most energetic people that you could meet!

Clearly... I break the boundaries of 'too personal.' And as far as Saturday bathing, that was the restriction I bestowed upon my visitors to the backyard birdbath. Once a week I close the cat door, whistle for my winged friends, and they swoop in with their little soaps-on-a-rope, plastic caps for their head feathers and tiny back scrub brushes. They know to get the heck outta there by Sunday morning when the cats are out early for the Feline Sabbath.

Taz... I'll consider that a compliment coming from you... but believe it or not I had my Instant Breakfast this morning... and only water ever since. That really makes you wonder even more about me, doesn't it?

Brian... that's great you have your special morning song to get you going. I feed off of the theme song to "Good Morning America." I once had a roommate that needed his AM fix with Guns 'n Roses "Welcome to the Jungle." Boy, was that a morning jolt -- for 4 long years! When he switched to Ron Keel's speed metal anthem I moved him out.

I wake up naturally, whenever my eyes open (not by an alarm clock) and have a lovely bubble bath and a coffee,  for about an hour.  While in the bath, I listen to personal development to get my head in the right spot for the day.  I visualize and meditate on my goals. Then,  I commute downstairs to my home office, and  I mastermind with about 2,000 other like minded successful entrepreneurs on a conference call.....

The most important work I do each day is the work I do on my own mind....our thinking affects every area of our lives.

Damn! I get up out of bed and dance regardless of how the hell I feel. Silly? You bet! But it works for me. I don't remember when or how it started, but it felt good and I kept it up. Now it's, I guess, sort of automatic. If I don't find myself wiggling around the house like an idiot then it's like a flag waving and saying to take inventory of what's going on. It works, what can I say?

Right now I am doing it in Europe & North America I guess I do it one call at a time.

Usually I listen to music of the country I'm in at the moment. This morn in Germany I listened to traditional German music by a band caled Ramstien. Try this at 4am. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&vi...

Actually all I do is wake up and love my job, the rest happens naturally
