Posted 7 months ago New to the industry I was cold-calling on a Radio AE route. Entered a ski & sporting private business. Signed 'em up for a 3-month contract. Got Co-op dollars and cross-advertised the campaign with the daily Metro newspaper. Found out when back at the office that AE's had been trying for years to sign them up, but this was the store's first-ever radio flight. I was shocked because the deal was so easy to close in one meeting. The weird part of that experience was my discovery months later in a far away county while on a skiing vacation. Standing in line at the ski supplies store for goggles, I heard my jingle on that local radio station. I guess it was so good, it was worth stealing! |

| Posted 7 months ago Hello Redhead52, That is a fabulously fun and successful story. I was previously a sales manager for an airline in the Midwest overseeing convention and meeting sales. We'd contract with a minimum guarantee, but there was no maximum limit. It was a transaction account so more was always better. There were accounts that I'd work hard to secure and handhold through the process. Then again, there were those quiet surprisers. You'd get them set up and contracted and they just take off. I loved that business. |

| Posted 7 months ago I once had to purchase from a plastics manufacturer to sell to my client. The guy was notorious for if he thought he could he'd pass the lead to a favoured salesman he would take your deal (he hated no tech promo salespeople). IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT I ONLY SPIFF TO FRONT DESKS of my clients, I even give them photos of the competing sales man. So when I heard the guy was in my clients office, I immediately called his warehouse and purchased the stock through my friends company and parked it in a truck. I had previously told the client I might have a way to save them lots of money. So I gave the client the inside line to pricing so she could get the best deal and when the guy got back to the office with the order my friend sold the stock back to the company so they could cover the order. The client them took me out for dinner, so cool there were two waiters per table, they wore gloves and knickers decadence at it's best |

| Posted 7 months ago A sales that took me by surprise. We had a client where an employee that once was employed by our comapny who0 was shakey at best. A real sleaze ball tsalked a client into breaking up her floor. He did the job however he dropped off a new plumber who was a helper only and had him installl the plumbing work. A short period later this guy was let go from our company. Within twelve months I had to go back to this client and found the horrible job this person did to her. During further inspection I found major problems with the whole system throug out her home. thirty two thousand dollars worth of work plus the work that was not done properly.I admited the improper installation and we wouold repair that for free under our warranty and take care of all costs to her ,hotel and any other costs associated with the new work. I was able to build the trust and value to having me personally taking care of her problem . We received the bid and completed the job and now she is one of our biggest cheerleaders for our work ,how we stand behind what we do and the professionalism. The time is now to grow and learn as much as possible. Take action and responsibility for your actions

| Posted about 1 month ago ??????? What a Surprise ??????? I was 24 years old at the time just out of the Navy, I was given an appointment to
do a presentation concerning selling a water purification system for a home in San Jose, CA. I arrived at the home and the client said he had no knowledge of the appointment but that he had some interest in a filter and showed me the brand new one he had recently purchased which was new in the box in his garage, as well as the old one he already had installed as well, it appeared to be working ok. I asked him that since I was new and would like to practice on him I wanted to do the presentation any way. To make a long story short I left the home after about 2 hours of presenting with an order and a check for about $2,000 water purification system..... GO FIGGER? AM I A NATURAL BORN OR WHAT? That was a really big surprise and a lesson to me... I am still selling and will be 70 years old next Feb 15th I love to sell.... JimGeorgeSales.com JimGeorgeSales.com">Jim@JimGeorgeSales.com |

| Posted about 1 month ago My company had a client that they lost to a competitor about 5 years past. I had pulled an old file from the old file cabinet where I found redundant folders. I went through the file with a fine tooth comb and thought, hmmm I am going to get this guy back if it kills me. I go to the owner, and he just say there and laughed and said goodluck on that one. hmmm, so i went to my desk and called the company. The original person was still the top dog so I knew the old history. Anyway, I asked if I could quote him on servicing his company hoists and cranes. He accepted the offer so the quote was sent within the hour. I called him back to make sure he received my guote and told him I will call the next day to discuss it and "would that be good with him", he said "sure". I called the next day. No gatekeeper, nothing to hold me back. I explained to him that he had had problems with some technicians with our company many years ago and that they were no longer working for us. I told him that it is such a shame that he is willing to pay more for another company to do his service as we are so close and really do care about the safety of his employees and that I could save him thousands of dollars per year. He sighed, big big sigh, I didn't say a word, just waited. He said, call me in a half hour, I did. Well, you surely are a persistant sales person and I respect that, and because you have shown me that you care about my company I would like you to send me a quote in the form of a contract for three years with a preset hourly rate and service rate. I told him that I appreciated his time and the quote would be done immediately and would have the owner personally deliver it. I then went into the "bosses" office and told him he owes me a coffee. He said "and why is that". I told him about the three year contract. His jaw hit the desk and he sat back and looked at me, I thought he was going to faint. He said "how in the hell did you do that", I told him I don't give all my secrets and that he is to deliver the contract this afternoon. The boss says "I will surely deliver you a coffee and as well I got a raise". Wow, good things come when you least expect it. |

| Posted 28 days ago I sell cars and one day a little kid, looked like he was 16 years old with his GF came by and spoke to one of the sales guy on the lot. He said he wanted to buy a brand new Challenger SRT8 and a fully decked out Van (about $90,000 worth of car at the time), co-worker asked him "how much you make" to get to the point, he replied he makes about $1,500 a month. Co-Worker brushed him off, me being new and figured I had nothing better to do and approached him. Turns out he's been in the Air Force for 2 years now, and his grandpa had died about 2 years ago who served his 20 int he military from 41 to 61 and came to respect any service member a great deal. His Grandpa became weathly through investments and real estate upon his death the lawyer simply said "Conditions were set, and once conditions are met his estate will be paid out" The condition was the first family member to spend 2 years in the military gets his entire estate. The kid got the entire estate, the stocks, investments, money, property everything!! No one in the family knew this. He paid cash for the two cars, at the end of the sale he asked me if I get a bonus for selling any certain type of products. I figured hey, he's already bought why not tell him. So I told him, he canceled that deal, went back and made suer I got every single bonus I could of. He bought protection packages I wouldn't of even considered offering cause they were just a waste of $$$... Moral of a story, never ever discount a customer. He reffered 6 customers to me as well. Never haggled, never brothered us, paid for his cars and turned out to be a great customer.
