Posted 7 months ago Talked with someone from one of my target companies today. I thought they were in a growth mode, but they are not. The VP Sales doesn't have time to meet this week, but asked me to touch base with him on Monday to schedule a meeting. It's unlikely that this will turn into any kind of offer, but maybe it will generate some new contacts. Had a pre-interview today. I thought I was going to talk to someone with a networking focus and it turned into more of an interview. It's not in an industry I was considering, but it's interesting enough that I'll be doing some homework. Talked with a company today that I've interviewed with, but they are moving slowly. Met with someone on a networking level and he wasn't able to give me any names of people I should talk to, but I did get some info about the right person to contact for a referal to a company in the area that is of interest.
Went to a job fair on Thursday. None of the companies were a good fit, but I got some good information from a few of the sessions. One thing that was pointed out is information that those of us looking for work need to keep in mind, and if you know someone who is looking for work, make sure they understand this. It is human nature to not want to admit when we need, or ask for help. It is also human nature to want to help others. I hate asking for help (for me, help is contacts to expand my network) right now, but the fact is, most people (I've only had 1 refuse) are willing to sit down and talk and offer whatever help they can.
